Museums Magnet Program

All Southside Preparatory Academy students have the unique opportunity to learn through hands-on experiences leading to the creation and development of their ideas. This is possible thanks to our Museums Magnet program which uses Object Based Learning. Through its use, students are able to apply critical thinking skills and academic vocabulary to engage in collaborative conversations with their peers. Additionally, Visual Thinking Strategies give students the opportunity to delve deeper into the information being taught and find more than just one right answer. Lastly, to better cement the learning taking place in the classroom, we take part in various Learning Expeditions. throughout the city thanks to the many partnerships Southside has created. Through these expeditions, students are provided real life context to what they are learning in the classroom.

STEAM Program

As we move towards a future full of technology, Southside understands the need to prepare our students for it. Through STEAM, all students are able to engage in Object Based Learning and Visual Thinking Strategies to identify real world problems and develop solutions to them using Science, Math, Technology, Engineering and the Arts. Students learn that subjects do not stand alone, but rather are used collectively to create, solve and help others. Furthermore, the STEAM program gives students the opportunity to compete against other students from schools across Miami-Dade County.

BISO Program

In addition to our Kinder through 5th Grade Spanish classes, Southside prides itself in further deepening our students' Spanish skills by integrating it into content areas such as Math and Social Studies through the Bilingual School Organization Program (BISO.)
